Our Mission

To leverage experiences, equipment, processes, and strategic partnerships for the developmental and strategic needs of Akwa Ibom State.

Our Vision

To provide a one-stop-shop for world-class, cutting-edge, and needs-driven technical skills training, leadership, and entrepreneurial training

Our History

The institution was established as The Government Technical College, Ikot Ada Idem in 1976 by the Cross River State Government in collaboration with the World Bank as part of the post-Nigerian Civil War Reconstruction Initiative to provide technical and vocational training aimed at developing human capital capacity in skills, vocational and technical education. The college focused on crafts, engineering, trade and technical skills, and occupied a pivotal position in the developmental programme of the state, producing top quality and multi-talented craftsmen that engendered socio-economic growth and technological advancement.

In 1998, the school status was changed from a technical college to the engineering faculty of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua. Staff and students of the college were transferred to other technical colleges within the state, while some staff of the Polytechnic were posted to the new campus. However, the transition was not completed and the institution was closed indefinitely.

However, within the period of dormancy, the school facility was still useful as it provided a camp for the internally displaced people such as Bakassi returnees and people fleeing from civil disturbances in and outside the state. In these travails, the Ikot Ada Idem community had ensured the security of all the facilities of the institution.

It was in 2019 that the school was remodeled and renamed Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) and the institution was completed and commissioned on the 24th of May 2023 by His Excellency Udom Emmanuel.

Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) was reopened by His Excellency Umo Eno and commenced full academic programmes in June 2024. The school offers first class vocational training and is primed to tackle unemployment in the state and close skill-gaps in our industries with state-of-the-art skills workshops, integrated farm and other facilities utilized by seasoned facilitators to deliver internationally recognized certifications and empowerment for successful entrepreneurship.
