The Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, played host to a team of media personnel and government officials, led by Dr. Essien Ndueso, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Research and Documentation.

The familiarization tour, which aimed at showcasing the centre’s progress since its inauguration in May 2024, was a resounding success, with the visitors expressing satisfaction with the facilities and operations.

The Chairman Governing Council, Obong Churchill Udo, led the delegation through the various departments in the five schools, including ICT, Hospitality (Fashion and Catering), Agriculture (Poultry, Fishery, Piggery, Snail, and Ranch), Woodwork, and Metal and Steel Fabrication.
The Heads of Schools and Departments took turns to brief the visitors on the facilities, productions, and operations, highlighting the centre’s commitment to providing hands-on technical and vocational training.
Dr. Essien Ndueso, SSA to the Governor, commended the center’s management, saying, “What I’ve seen here is beyond my imagination, considering the rumours. I am impressed with the progress made so far.”
The Rector of the Centre, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, briefed the visitors on the centre’s journey since inauguration on May 20th, 2024, and its determination to provide skills training that meets international standards.
“The centre aims to empower trainees for entrepreneurship and bridge skill gaps for various industries, making them top choices for employers,” Prof. Usoro emphasized.

The Registrar of the Centre, Mr. AniediAbasi Udofia, assured the visitors that DASAC would soon become a global reference point, providing skills and manpower to Akwa Ibom indigenes and beyond. “We’re committed to making our trainees self-sufficient and highly employable,” he added.

The tour was followed by a Question & Answer session, where media personnel and state correspondents interacted with the Chairman, Rector, and Heads of Schools and Departments.
