Course 33 Exco with DASAC Management team

On Friday, November 8, 2024, DASAC hosted a delegation from the National Defence College, Nigeria’s apex military training institution, as part of their study tour in Akwa Ibom State. The National Defence College is renowned for its excellence in peace support operations and training at the strategic level in West Africa.

The visit aligned with the college’s study theme, “Youth Empowerment and National Development,” aimed at examining Nigeria’s socio-economic and political environment and its impact on national security and development. The delegation comprised high-ranking officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with participants from Benin Republic and the Republic of Gabon.

Obong Churchill Udoh, Chairman of DASAC’s Governing Council, warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing gratitude for the choice of Akwa Ibom State for their study tour. Professor Enoidem Usoro, Rector of DASAC, highlighted the institution’s commitment to empowering Akwa Ibom youths, providing comprehensive training programs tailored to persons across various educational levels, from primary school certificate holders to degree holders.

The delegation toured DASAC’s facilities, witnessing firsthand the Akwa Ibom State government’s efforts in youth empowerment through skills acquisition. Air Commodore AK Famuyiwa, Director of Information and Communications Technology at the National Defence College, who led the delegation, commended the Akwa Ibom State government initiatives, citing the facility as a model for addressing youth unemployment and restiveness in the country.

Captain S. T. Goni, representing Course 33 participants, expressed satisfaction with the hospitality, adding that he was impressed by the state’s intentional youth development efforts, reaffirming Akwa Ibom as a model for skills training.
