The Rector of Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC), Ikot Ada-Idem, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, together with the Registrar of DASAC, Mr. Aniediabasi Udofia, were guests at Comfort 95.1 FM Uyo on the weekly programme – Update Akwa Ibom, sponsored by the Ministry of Information. The programme, which was anchored by Catherine Akpan and Etiene Etim, focuses on various aspects of development in the State.
The aim of the broadcast was to highlight the place of skills acquisition in Akwa Ibom State and the role of DASAC in enhancing this effort.
Prof. Usoro gave an insight on the different skills the trainees will acquire and the Certification they will get at the completion of the 6 months training. She mentioned that the certification is affiliated to the University of Lagos and is internationally recognised granting graduates of DASAC access to global opportunities. She encouraged organizations and high-profiled individuals to support the efforts of the State Government in ensuring that no child of school age in Akwa Ibom State is found on the streets by sponsoring a child through DASAC’s intensive and hands-on training programme.
Mr. Udofia gave a distinctive analysis on how far Akwa Ibom State has gone in Infrastructure, Assets, Education, Agriculture and Skills Acquisition. He further intimated that in order to fulfill the goal of the ARISE Agenda, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umoh Bassey Eno had sponsored 155 interested youths from across the 31 LGAs of the State to acquire in-demand skills from DASAC. The Registrar emphasized that the training will be ‘Hands-on’ and this will be made possible with the Centre’s well-equipped state-of-the-art facilities. He added that the Staff of DASAC had been carefully recruited and properly trained to adhere to the goals and standard of the Centre.
