Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) is poised to address systemic unemployment and elevate many youths out of poverty, aligning with the A.R.I.S.E proposition of His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno. This was revealed by Prof. Enoidem B. Usoro, Rector of DASAC, during a media interaction yesterday.

Prof. Usoro emphasized that the initiative targets individuals in rural areas who cannot afford formal education or acquire skills to earn a decent living. By training these individuals, DASAC aims to empower them and their families, thereby enhancing overall productivity in the economy. “It is common knowledge that many people send frequent ‘save our soul’ (SOS) messages requesting ‘urgent two thousand naira’. DASAC training will turn those ‘urgent two thousand naira’ seekers into givers,” she stated.

The curriculum at DASAC includes courses in Agriculture, Hospitality and Lifestyle, Steel and Metal Technology, Wood Technology, and Information Communication Technology (ICT). The Centre is accredited by the University of Lagos and will issue certificates endorsed by the same upon completion. Additionally, DASAC offers opportunities for proficiency examinations and certification by internationally recognized professional bodies such as City and Guilds, London, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and others.

Regarding admissions and eligibility, the Registrar, Mr. Aniediabasi Udofia, outlined the following categories:

Category A: Adults with prior educational background such as HND, Degrees, and Higher Degrees in any field, seeking technical skills training. Duration: Minimum of 3 months (September 2024 – March 2025).

Category B: Secondary school certificate holders seeking in-depth technical skills training. Duration: Minimum of 6 months (September 2024 – February 2025).

Category C: Individuals with First School Leaving Certificate or no certificate but with a strong desire to acquire technical skills. Duration: Minimum of 9 months (September 2024 – May 2025).

DASAC boasts a skilled faculty, good accommodation for students and staff, well-equipped workshops, an integrated farm, standard sporting facilities, and collaborations with various institutions to provide graduates with a strong start in life.

Interested applicants are advised to apply through the school website at www.dasac.com.ng, where they can complete a free online form on or before Friday, July 12, 2024.
